Mathew's Fanfic

Welcome to edolus, a world of magic which is slowly losing its power. Ruled by the exceeds, the humans live to serve them. The exceeds magical beings with the physic of a cat. They live on a floating island above Edolus who watch over the humans ruled by Queen Shagotte.

Chapter One - The Dream

The Queen could feel the magic in the world staggering. The flow of magic was so weak that she could barely feel a mere tingle through her coat of fur. As she stared out the window in her tower room she looked over Extalia and wondered what would happen to her people. The moon shone over the city placing a blanket of security over the exceeds. The brightness glazed in shagotte’s eyes. The glow mirrored a deep feeling of calamity and Shagotte was put in a trans. falling to the ground she was suddenly magically lifted onto her bed as if some invisible force were carrying her over.

Queen Shagotte opened her eyes. She was high in the air over extalia but yet she wasn’t. The peaceful extalia had completely changed. There were explosions in the distance with sparks flying to the east of the floating island. One winged she flew towards the chaos only to feel her energy weakening. Her magical wing disappeared which left her plummeting to the ground. Falling at a fast speed she felt like she was losing all control of her mind as well but then a sudden force of natural instinct woke up inside of her. Just as she almost made contact with the ground below, she stopped about 20metres in the air with her one wing supporting her. Surprised, the queen landed on the ground and noticed her people throwing stones at a young girl. A young girl with sweet eyes crying as her deep blue hair was caught in the wind trying to pull her to safety. Yet this girl stood her ground, crying in agonising pain and holding what seemed to be another exceed in her arms, a young thought. This didn’t make sense to her, humans were forbidden to enter in the land of extalia and humans also feared the exceeds.

The girl began to scream. As shagotte neared closer she was frozen in her tracks. All of a sudden the world around her began to change rapidly around her. In the spot she stood hours flew by in minutes and people turned into light headed to where the explosions blasted through the land. As the sun rose there were no more exceeds in the air, the city of extalia was deserted and streams of magical attacks were sent into the air. Then as time moved on a light opened up in the sky and a giant lacrima that held so much magical power vanished into the light. Lacrima, a stone which held magic that humans used disappeared and soon magic all around flitted until there was nothing left. The floating islands around her only floated because of magic, with the magic disappearing they all began to fall. Looking down from where she once stood, the City she called home, was plunging to the ground. Shagotte’s heart began to break, her home would be no more and her people would be in danger of human attacks then it happened, the island of extalia, her city made impact and broke into thousands of pieces. Shagotte screamed with agony.

Chapter 2 – Sacrificial Plan

Waking up with a tearing heart, the queen in her haste began making arrangements. She was scared for her people; she was scared for the Exceeds. She had already suffered a horrible fate now only being able to produce half a set of wings. She did not want those around her to suffer the same fate. Getting out of bed she chucked on her Robe and made her to the cradle that comforted her child, the one thing of the past king left of him to love. Her beloved child that was yet to hatch. She looked down at the egg which began to shake… it seemed like her unborn child was feeling the fears that Shagotte was feeling. Rubbing the egg, Queen Shagotte began to soothe her child

“Shhhhhh, its okay my darling. I will take care of you and everything will be fine, there is no need to worry, you will be alright”

The unhatched egg slowly stopped quivering feeling the warmth a security the queen had given her. With the young egg in her arms she called for a maiden to awaken the elders. She wanted to discuss the dream she had.

In the chamber of the elders shagotte sits there impatiently waiting on the elder’s arrival. In her arms she holds her child, still an egg almost ready to hatch. She begins to wonder what she will do with the child she wishes to see grow up. Knowing about the anima she begins to think about the world they know as earth. Suddenly the elders enter the chamber one by one tired.

“What is this about?” asked Head Elder Hasami

Shagotte turns to look at him and responds
“I had a dream; no it was more of a premonition. One day the kingdom of extalia will fall and we, the Exceeds will be in trouble. Our homes will be destroyed and that is why I have called upon this meeting tonight”

“How do you know my dear? Could it be just another night terror?” asked Elder Hasami

“No, it was much too real to be a night terror. There was a magical force telling me with the human’s limited supply of magic would be our doom. I was put in a trans before this dream. I was looking over the city by window, but when I woke up in panic I found that I was in my bed. There are forces at work and I believe the spirits were telling me so” said Shagotte whilst tears began to trickle down her face

“Oh my! What can we do? Do you know if there is any possible way to prevent it shagotte?” Agonised Elder Hasami

Sadly Shagotte responded “No, I don’t think so, but perhaps instead of saving extalia we could save our the children”

“What do you mean your majesty?” chorused all the Elders

“We could use the anima and send the children to Earthland where magic is plentiful and never ending. The young could live happily there without worry”

Shagotte looked down at her egg then continued

“This is my only child and this tragedy is not her burden bear. We must save our kin and we must act fast”

“hmmm” Elder Hasami muttered

“Say we send our unborn kin to Earthland, what will we tell our people? They will all be in panic then the humans will know a great tragedy is upon us and a war may break out. They may not allow us to use the anima so simply” questioned another Elder
There was a long silence in the room and each member inside the chamber was deep in thought, even the loyal servant, Emissay who at Shagotte’s side was thinking long and hard. The servant excited to seem have an idea and began to speak.

“We will tell our people that there is a mission our kin must do and only them. We will tell them that dragon slayers, magicians from Earthland are closing up anima’s which will stop magic coming here. We will tell our people of their greed. The humans will surely agree to this”

“Yes, they will not question this so much and we will be praised more by our people. This could very well work” responded Elder Hasami

“This is a very good idea Emissay” praised another Elder

“I thank you for your input Emissay, it is much appreciated. I am glad that you understand our position. I am glad we were able to meet at this during an ungodly hour. I needed to discuss my decision before any action would take place. So now we will leave the chamber and prepare.” thanked Queen Shagotte

When the Elders had left the chamber Shagotte sat there staring at her child with her loyal servant by her side waiting for her next command.

“Emissay” Shagotte started “send a messenger to the king of edolus and inform him of our plans. then prepare the guards and servants to go to houses with unborn kin and collect 99 of them at dawn, please tell the parent’s of these exceeds the story of their mission. Have the kin stored in a crate ready to be sent off to Earthland. Then the following day I will make a public announcement and tell the people of how Extalia will be destroyed if these brave unborn do not make the journey to Earthland. That is all”

Emissay rushed out of the chamber to do the Queen’s bidding. Shagotte still in her seat began to sob louder and sat there till had gone.
